Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun. – Mary Lou Cook (source: www.scrapbook.com)
I have been religiously collecting digital scraps for about six months now. That is to say, I have been bitten by the digital scrapbooking bug! Not that this is my first time to design digitally. I have always loved making digital layouts. Even did it as a sideline before — designing cards and invitations. It’s not only the creative side that I like, but also the fact that you get to be a part of someone’s very special day.
For a long time, I have also been designing for newsletters — for work, for local communities and for the employees’ union in my former work. Both the designing and writing sides appeal to me. I would design a newsletter without batting an eyelash. This is also a part of my current job that I really enjoy doing.
Scrapbooking combines my love for special paper and writing. Yes, I used to collect special papers that I actually had a box full of them back in the Philippines. I also still have special paper cutters and I love collecting ribbons too! Why did I just say that? Well, I have to admit that when I joined in the bandwagon, I realized how much of myself was there — someone who loved paper, words, quotes and journalling. I used to have these bunch of diaries at home when I was a teenager and I just love crafting — not only paper, but home decors and the likes (I also bead jewelries, in case I forget to share). What can I say, I’m just so domestic! LOL.
Digital scrapbooking combines all of that and more. First, my passion for learning something new and creating. Second, my enthusiasm for organization. I don’t have to have boxes of paper, just a hard drive to save all my digital stuff in. Imagine that! And albums don’t get thick anymore, because in digital scrapbooking, tickets can still be scanned and placed in an album, with all those pictures, just in one page. I find it really innovative that these things can be done in this manner.
Anyway, enough about myself. The reason for this post was the fact that last weekend, digital scrapbookers all over the world celebrated the Digital Scrapbooking Day. Certainly, there were lots of blogtrains and bloghops where freebies can be snagged. I got a mouse hand completing the pack! (Hmmm… did those two sentences just rhyme?)
To celebrate with “fellow” digital scrapbookers, I have a free quickpage (“freebie qp” in the DS world) for you which you can download here.
You can also click on the linked image below. (Please let me know if there are link problems because this is my first time.
)
In the next few days, I shall share with you further knowledge about digital scrapbooking and some favorite sites. So stick around! Oh, and if you like the free qp, don’t forget to leave some love in the comments area.
